'Turbulence' exhibition opening soon at Flinders Lane Gallery, Melbourne

‘Turbulence’ continues my recent focus on the powerful and personally significant environment of Guarella/Guerilla Bay, Yuin Country (NSW South Coast).

The exhibition will be on display from 21 June - 16 July 2022 at Flinders Lane Gallery, Melbourne. If you’d like to join me in celebrating the opening on Saturday 25 June from 1-3pm please send your RSVP to assistant@flg.com.au

The exhibition can also be viewed online and is accompanied by a beautiful essay from Gina Mobayed.

“She has stayed a difficult course in continually finding new marks, methods and perspectives from which to render this captivating, complex place. For Romeyn the physicality of the Bay stands in for life; it is simultaneously thriving and eroding. Through a reduction of palette Romeyn heightens the intensity of this place and renders it anew.” - Gina Mobayed, 2022

Artbank Collection

Very happy that my watercolour monotype ‘Endurance 7’ has been acquired for Artbank’s collection of contemporary Australian art!

This ongoing body of work draws inspiration from the natural environment of Guarella (Guerilla Bay), Yuin Country (South Coast, NSW): a beautiful place that still evokes memories of the last summer shared with my Mum, yet also offers new experiences and perspectives with each return visit.

Through large-scale watercolour monotype prints I hope to capture a sense of place and convey the immersive and restorative experience of walking in nature – the momentary shifts in light and the persistent uprush and backwash of water, in contrast and constant interaction with rock formations of unfathomable age.
